I can talk your ear off about sourdough or drag you through my garden until you know every plant by name. Fair warning — I'm a chatter bug, especially when it comes to the things I love!

And I love a lot of things.

I love baking with freshly milled flour and experimenting in the kitchen. I love growing things and preserving them for winter. I love learning something new and then sharing it with anyone who will listen.

Mostly, I love this property and living in the country.

I've lived here for most of my 50 years. My parents bought this property in 1973 — an old farmhouse with a tree-barren yard. Just two trees stood here when they moved in. My dad planted everything else. He passed away in 1999, but his trees are still here. They line the lane behind me. He loved Black Walnut and pecan trees. They're in my logo. That’s how we came up with Nutty Lane.

My husband and I moved back to this property in 2005 and we've been adding to what he started ever since — a berry patch, a fruit orchard, a few more trees. We didn't inherit a perfect place. We inherited a perfectly imperfect one, and we wouldn't change a thing.

Nutty Lane Post is my way of sharing this place with you. The baking, the growing, the preserving, the learning. The feeling of home, living and growing on a property your dad planted and knowing you're exactly where you belong.
